Assistant Professor position, Urban & Regional Planning (Specialization: Ethnic Studies)

We seek a candidate with demonstrated strength in the combined area of community development and social justice. The successful candidate should demonstrate strength in addressing environmental racism, disparity in economic opportunity, and/or public health equity with emphasis on the well-being of all residents, especially Native People/s, African Americans, Latinx, and Asian Americans. The candidate should also have a focus on action/participatory research, community-based research, or other research approaches. We are especially interested in candidates who will thrive in an inclusive environment with demonstration of ability or potential to actively engage in the diversity and inclusive excellence of the academic community.
This faculty member will contribute to instruction and research in one or more of the aforementioned areas of specialization, including developing curricula for the department’s accredited undergraduate and master’s programs in planning. The position requires teaching, advising, scholarly activities, and service to the community, profession, the department, college, and university.
The new faculty member will be a part of the Ethnic Studies Affinity Faculty and will have the opportunity to engage with a new and permanent Office of Ethnic Studies Affinity Teaching and Scholarship. This is a space for collaboration across disciplines and methodological vantage points, mentorship, and professional development programming. The Ethnic Studies Affinity Faculty, and the resources to support them, are a key element of CPP’s ongoing efforts to ensure the flourishing of our diverse students and faculty and be the leading inclusive polytechnic university in the nation.
