Associate Planner
($6,828 – $8,324 per month)

The City of Hesperia is looking for a professional experienced in land use planning, environmental analysis, and entitlement with proven strong communication skills and the ability to review, evaluate, and solve problems in an efficient and methodical manner.
The Associate Planner is responsible for conducting professional planning work in land use and urban planning including current and/or advanced planning projects within the City and in the implementation of the City’s general plan as well as related policies and regulations. Responsibilities include the preparation of planning studies, specific reports and plans in planning work details and making technical determinations, with minimal supervision. This new team member will prepare staff reports, policy memos, ordinance and presentations on projects and present findings to the Development Review Committee and Planning Commissions; as well as work with various consultants including CEQA. Work may include assisting with the instruction or project direction of lower-level professional, technical, and clerical staff members.
The ideal candidate will be individual that possesses professionalism, ethical integrity, and the ability to multitask and address a high volume of work. This person will have at least two (2) years of experience in professional public planning and zoning work, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in planning or a related field considered useful in City planning work, and a High School diploma or GED. Internships or temporary assignments with public agencies or private planning firms may be considered as part of the required experience.
