Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule) – Urban Studies
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Urban Studies at Queens College, CUNY invites applications for a full-time, Doctoral Lecturer and service learning coordinator. We seek a dynamic and engaged researcher to teach courses in core areas of urban studies (at the BA and MA levels), advise and mentor students, and coordinate our undergraduate service learning program. While the area of specialization is open, the successful candidate will have an urban justice-oriented research agenda and, ideally, some form of practitioner experience in the field of urban studies. The ability to develop partnerships with NYC-based community organizations is also a plus. The teaching load is 4/4, with one course released per semester for administrative duties. Additional opportunities for release time may become available through grant-funded, community-based research projects. We especially welcome candidates whose professional experience, community engagement, and personal background have facilitated their understanding of, and ability to, better serve students from traditionally underrepresented communities in higher education.

Assistant Professor- Urban Studies
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Queens College, CUNY seeks to fill a tenure-track position in Urban Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2022. The successful candidate should have an active research program in urban studies with a specialization in health-related disparities and inequities, including modes of action that promote positive health outcomes and health justice. Applicants with a focus on research in Black Studies, Native Studies, Asian American & Pacific Islander Studies, Latin American or Latinx Studies, Critical Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, Diaspora Studies, Labor Studies, or Queer Studies, are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate’s research on health will ideally articulate with some of the department’s scholarly priorities, including urban politics and governance, mobilities and migrations, infrastructures, urban citizenship, inclusive planning, sovereignty, urban commoning, environmental justice, just sustainabilities, and the right to the city. Geographical area of specialization is open. The position requires excellence in BA and MA teaching and advising, professional and scholarly achievements, and service to the department, university, and community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in relation to race, ethnicity, gender, class, sexuality, nationality, and ability.
