Urban Planning for Sustainable Cities, Assistant Professor
Description of Position
The Department of Geography, Planning and Environment (GPE) is seeking applications from individuals with expertise in urban planning, environmental studies, urban ecology, or landscape architecture. Research specializations may include: green infrastructure, planning for resource-efficient cities, promoting urban biodiversity, resilience to climate change (e.g. flooding), urban ecology and metabolism, urban agriculture, or urban sustainability transitions. This position will fit centrally within Concordia’s growing sustainable cities research cluster, including the CERC in Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Communities and Cities. Preferred candidates will hold a PhD in Planning or in a related discipline, and should be a member of, or eligible and prepared to join within a short period of time, the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec (OUQ) or to become a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) as per the Canadian Professional Standards Board (PSB) requirements. Applications must consist of a cover letter identifying the title and position code (19_T_GEOG_M), a current curriculum vitae, copies of recent publications, a statement of teaching philosophy/interests, a statement of research achievements and plans, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and the names of three individuals who may be contacted for reference letters.
